In Europe and to an extent in Mexico (they get the SEAT) as well as other markets we are spoilt.

OPPO had developed a love for the VW Golf in North America.

But we have so many other options

Want a VAG cabrio, hatchback, saloon, liftback or estate on the MQB platform with a small economical engine, we’ve the

VW Golf, saloon (Jetta), Golf SV5 door and estate

Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!!

SEAT Leon, in 3 and 5 door and estate

Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!!

Skoda Octavia 5 door liftback and estate,

Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!!

Audi A3, cabrio, 3 and 5 door hatchback and saloon.

I hate VW in Mexico because of the stupid Terramont and the even stupider NMS.

Same, but the black one at least hides the goofy new headlights.

Enjoy them now, post-Brexit, that market variation could shrink a lot.

The Teramont is a renamed Atlas isn’t it. As for the NMS.

The VW Passat NMS is made in the U.S. and China, but the U.S. gets the MQB Golf and will get the MQB Arteon, so why not give you guys the MQB Passat!?

You get SEAT though.

Ye’, but then at night, the DRLs are lit and the gap between the two sec tions is so obvious.

We might not get the Arteon, nor will we get the new Touareg.

I think we used to get the Europassat, and then the reign of the NMS began...

I don’t think so. They’ll still be making them for Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, Malta, Cyprus, etc... The U.K. has always been a massive market for new cars (yes, sales are down, but they are down in the U.S., Europe and in China to tune of 13.9%) . I mean at present there are some VWs, Renaults, etc... we don’t get as it’s not economical to make certain models or specs in RHD for the number of sales they’ll get.

We don’t get the VW Passat in the 2.0 auto spec, but we get the Skoda Superb in the 2.0 auto.

With Renault, we don’t get the Renault Talisman (saloon or estate) or the R enault Clio estate or the Renault Espace.

But there always has been a few cars not available to us, just like there are certain cars or specs not available to Ireland or Australasia but are available to the U.K.

Curious you may not get the Arteon. The Touareg, your not missing much really.

Just to note:

- we do get a Golf wagon
- we do get a Golf 5-door
- we do get a 3 Cabrio
- we do get a 3 sedan
- we do get a 5-door 3, but e-tron only

The Mk2 facelift (or Mk2.5) Octavia, like a little rocket . There are still two vRS specs of this model (a white and a silver one) doing the rounds as taxis where I live.

Ye’, it’s mainly the Skoda and SEAT variety you don’t get.

Shame they stop ped doing the 3 door Golf and the Scirocco.

Nearly forgot about the Golf SV

and the Jetta (which you get).

Skoda estate and Seat 5 door hatch.

If I lived in Europe, I’d own at least one of them. Good looking cars.

Enjoyed the variety over here in Vienna, but I like a lot of the cars we have in the USA  and their relatively lower prices.

I’ve had two Skoda Superbs. A Mk2 estate and a Mk3 liftback.

Kinja'd!!!

Kinja'd!!!

Both have been fantastic cars and in the six years of having them, the only thing that went wrong, was a blown bulb on the driver’s side rear brakelight (I couldn’t even tell which one it was as there are four bulbs in each brakelight cluster).

I love Skoda but the SEAT Leon does look good.

But then again so does the soon to be released Skoda Scala.

Though the Skoda Superb is a rather large car by European standards. I like the variety for small hatchbacks with their smaller displacement economical engines.

I mean, yes they don’t make the Scirocco any more, but a manual 1.4TSi 158bhp VW Scirocco in Viper Green Metallic, 52UKmpg.

Ye’, it was a really close call on whether we got that one or the liftback we got. After having the Mk2 estate and the vast boot it had, just didn’t need that much space. But even then the difference was so small. The liftback has 625 litres of boot space, the estate has 660 litres of boot space.

So that SV5 door is basically a VW Fit/Jazz?

Also I really wish that the Skoda and Seats were sold here because some of them look better than their VW counter parts.

Not getting a Scirocco in the us still makes me made, I think they were worried about it stealing Golf, and Beetle sales. Which makes sense. I would take this over either. It’s very much the better looking of the three, and probably right in the middle cargo room wise.

They’ll still have them, there'll just be fewer cars manufactured in the UK.  Butter may be cheaper and New Zealand meats will probably come back though.

Ye’, the Golf SV, used to be called the Golf Plus, but since 2013 it’s called the Golf SV and is really a 5 door Golf with more head room.

The SEATs and Skodas share the same engines and platforms as the VWs, but are better looking, more practical and also cheaper. No brainer really.

The Skoda is often called the ‘thinking mans car’, while some of the SEAT s are economy sports cars.

Ye’, the Scirocco was getting on a bit as it was bas ed on the previous gen Golf and sales were dropping. Sales in the U.S. wouldn’t of warranted selling it there. Pay twice the price for compliance, etc... to have on sale two cars that would take each others sales. They stopped selling the 3 door to the U.S. also.

It’s curious as the Vauxhall Astra GTC OPC/VXR is the same, previous gen Astra but still on sale and apparently they will be making a new one at some point.

Kinja'd!!!

Kinja'd!!!

Kinja'd!!!

but they don’t make a 3 door in the new Astra, so will they make a 3 door or just make a VXR out of the current 5 door car.

Might end being a lot worse. Higher tariffs on incoming cars could  discourage cars coming in from elsewhere in Europe, while domestic production would be sabotaged by decreased demand from the EU, and more expensive parts from mainland suppliers. Lower economic prosperity is likely to shrink demand as well. No one knows how this will shake out, but it could be really bad. May’s plan doesn’t look like it would hurt the UK economically (though it seems worse than staying in, because the UK would still be subject to many of Brussels’ rules without having any voice in them), while a no deal Brexit could be disastrous.

Dead in America sure, but not here just yet.

And despite the fact the next gens are  just round the corner, the 3 door versions of the A3 and Leon were just killed. Shame.

I remembered the 3 door when I remembered the cabrio and the SV, just forgot to list the 3 door, my bad.

I never really followed Audi.

I didn’t know about the 3 door Leon. Such a shame indeed.
